He was born on September 22, 1955 to Walter Robert and Laura Josephine (Nowlin) Kraft in Subic Bay Naval Base, Philippines. Robert served in the U.S. Navy for 17 years.

Robert received National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Expeditionary Medal and Battle “E” Ribbon. After retirement, Robert loved to grow and work in the garden at his home on his farm.
