Obituary for Mr. Robert Earl Jones Asheville: Robert Earl Jones, 83 formerly of Canton, died Tuesday, January 8, 2019. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, NC, he was the son of the late Earl Robert and Debbie Harbin Jones. Mr. Jones retired from Champion Paper Mill in 1991 with 35 years of service, and was an avid stamp collector.

In addition to his parents Mr. Jones was preceded in death by two brothers, Mike and Johnny Jones; three sisters, Jenny Kastle, Charlotte Delaney, and Shirley James. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Hazel Smith Jones of Asheville; two sons, Mike Jones and his wife Terri of Mechanicsville, NY, and Robert Jones and his wife Myrna of Asheville; two daughters, Robyn Brown and her husband Colin of Canton, and Sharon Smiley and her husband Russell of Canton; grandchildren, Amanda Smith, Chrys Smith and his fiancé Alyssa Williams, Sydney Jones and her husband Zachary Joyner, Jordan Jones and his fiancé Mattie Barfield, Austin Smiley, Zachary Smiley, Nicholas Jones, and AJ Jones; great grandchildren, Machenzie Smith, Kai Smith, and Aeddan Smith. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 4:00 PM at Highlands Cremation & Funeral Care, 2393 Hendersonville Rd.
