Robert Edward Geldersma October 20, 1943 – May 09, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Robert Edward Geldersma was born October 20, 1943 in Plainwell, Michigan, the son of Jacob and Laura (Scott) Geldersma. He attended schools in Michigan through the 8th grade. Bob worked various jobs in Michigan.

Throughout his adult years he worked loading and unloading railroad cars and worked at the Enderlin Sunflower Plant until his retirement. Bob entered the US Army on October 30, 1964 at Fort Dix, Massachusetts and did a tour of duty in Vietnam and was discharged on October 22, 1967. Bob was united in marriage to Mildred Lettenmaier on July 14, 1979 at Valley City, ND.

They moved to Portland, Oregon for a short time after their marriage. They then moved back to Valley City and later to Wyndmere, ND where they made their home. Bob and Millie were fortunate to have travelled to Florida where they visited Disney World.

“Millie” passed away on January 11, 1993 and Bob continued to reside in Wyndmere. On July 30, 1994 Bob married Gloria Johnson. Bob and Gloria enjoyed travelling and one of his treasured memories was their opportunity to attend the Medora Muscial.

Gloria passed away November 25, 2015 and Bob continued to reside in Wyndmere. He later moved to Hankinson, ND for a short period before moving to Dakota Estates Retirement Center in Lidgerwood in May, 2016. Bob thought of Dakota Estates as his home with the residents and employees.

Bob was a quiet man with a big smile and a big heart. He had a sound and firm Christian belief in knowing Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wyndmere, ND and a proud member of the Brown-Nelson American Legion Post #153 in Wyndmere, ND.

Bob is survived by step-children: Richard Sieg, Robert Miller, Rockey Miller, Melissa (Gary) Bohnenstingl, Sheila (Paul) Shepherd, Dean (Sara) Johnson, Brenda (Tyler) Hasse, Samantha (David) Sokolofsky, and Irl (Cheryl) Johnson. Also surviving are sister Margaret Basner; Brothers: John Geldersma and Peter Geldersma; several “grandchildren and “great-granchildren” and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Laura Geldersma; Sister; Linda Geldersma, Brother: Larry Geldersma and a step daughter, Marjorie Jorgenson.

Bob entered into his Eternal Rest on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Veterans Hospital in Fargo, ND at the age of 75 years. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 12:30-1:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 1:00 p.m. at Dakota Estates Chapel, Lidgerwood, ND. Visitation will continue at 2:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. at Wyndmere United Methodist Church, Wyndmere, ND.

Military Honors by Wyndmere American Legion Brown-Nelson Post #153 and North Dakota Honor Guard. His mortal remains will rest in the Elk Creek Cemetery, rural Wyndmere, ND until the day of resurrection of all flesh.
