OBITUARY Robert Edward VanDis “Butch” October 3, 1950 – December 16, 2018 Robert Edward VanDis “Butch” 10/3/1950 – 12/16/2018 Butch passed away peacefully on December 16, 2018 surrounded by family and close friends. He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Patricia Bisazza VanDis, and his children, Monica (Christopher Ray) and Stephen (Alison) along with his adored grandchildren, Olivia, Addison, Reese and Giacomo. He was brother-in-law to Maureen (d.

), Kathleen Regan (Patrick), Evelyn Harley (Richard d.), Suzanne Koonce (Les), Antoinette Bisazza Rousseau (Don) and Bob Solon. Adored uncle to Brian and Kevin Solon, Michelle McCully, Michael Regan, Eric, Mark and Andrew Harley and their families. He was adored by his Aunt Cecelia Roselli (Bob d.) and first cousins Karen, Cathy, Rob and Elaine.

He will miss his best buddy and granddog Oly. He attended Glen Park Grammar School, Balboa High School and SF State University. Butch played organized baseball through High School and earned All City honors his Junior and Senior years as catcher.

In 1964 he was honored to be the Police Athletic League Boy of the Year. He served in the SFPD for five and a half years before transferring to the SFFD until his retirement in 2004. In his retirement he enjoyed cooking, watching his beloved Giants and having his grandkids overnight.

He also enjoyed reading the daily newspapers, watching the news, and family get togethers which were numerous. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11AM on Friday, December 21, 2018 at St Vincents Catholic Church, 1 St Vincents Drive, San Rafael, CA 94903. Donations to the San Francisco Firefighters Cancer Prevention Foundation or your favorite charity.
