Obituary for Robert Edwin Richter Print Mr. Robert Edwin Richter, age 86 of Forney, passed away at his home on Friday, February 15th, 2019. He was born on November 14th, 1932 in Three Rivers, TX to the late Edwin Richter and Varina Roan. As a child, Robert spent time working on his parent’s dairy farm.
After graduating from Pawnee High School, he enlisted in the US Army. He completed his education at Del Mar College, where he received a degree in electrical engineering. He worked first, for Central Power and Light and went on to work for General Electric until his retirement.
He loved serving others and his community. He was a member of the Jaycees in Portland, TX, he volunteered for the Suicide Prevention Hotline and helped build a church in the Dominican Republic. Robert enjoyed RVing with his wife, Joyce.
One of their most enjoyable trips was to Alaska. He also enjoyed square dancing, woodworking and fixing things around his home. Bob loved his wife, family and pets.
He was a man of integrity and kindness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Varina Richter and sister, Ann Fransen. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Richter; son,Tom Richter and his wife, Marta; daughters, Kathy Bauer and her husband, Leo and Cheri Walker and her husband, Tom; stepson, Jeff Day and his wife, Beth; and stepdaughters, Freddie Martinka and her husband, Raymond and Suzanne Linch; brother, Jesse Richter and sister, Carolyn Young.
He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, Paul, Brian, Kimberly, Kenny, Joel, Shannon, Jacob, Valerie, Michael, Jenna, Mikaila and Stephen; and seven great- grandchildren, Asteria, Stella, Alexandra, Isabella, Chavey, Brian and Oliver. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 18th, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Beaty Funeral Home, 5320 S. State Hwy. 37 Mineola, TX 75773.
Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm with Art Harkins conducting. Interment will be at Sand Springs Cemetery in Mineola, TX.
