Robert’s Obituary Robert James Curtis was born on May 16, 1943 and left this world on May 30, 2019. He was the first son of Marie Gertrude (Minkle) and Constantine James Curtis. He is predeceased by his younger brother Stephen.

Bob graduated from Roslindale High School, but also had a short stint at Catholic Memorial High School. In his youth, he played park league football and football for Roslindale High. He also spent many of his childhood years playing with his Stelman Road neighborhood friends at Healy Feld and summering in Marshfield at their family’s beach house on Tower Ave.

Bob worked for University of Massachusetts Boston, retiring in 2002, in which he had worked as an Energy Management Technician for over 30 years. In 1972, Bob married Edith Anne (Bennett) and they rooted their family in Marshfield, in which he has lived for almost the past 50 years. They were blessed with three wonderful daughters; Susan Jennifer Palmeri and her husband Gerard of Colonia, NJ, Marcy Marie Curtis and her husband Andrew Goodwin of Marshfield, and Jamie Lee Allen and her husband Obrean of Marshfield.

Bob lived life for his children and supported them in all their successes in academics, sports, and music. He spent many days cheering from the sidelines, attending banquets and musical performances, and devoted several hours to attending practices, games and concerts. His children were his legacy, and his grandchildren became his pride and joy.

He was blessed with four spirited grandchildren who were the apple of his eye-Arabella, Vincent, Anaya, and Aliyah In his free time he enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and gardening. Bob had the best tomatoes and always planted more than what was necessary, just so he could share the garden bounty he reaped. He loved scratch tickets, the thrill of betting the ponies, and playing cards with his Saturday group of boys at the Elks.

Nothing ever interfered with a card game! He enjoyed shopping-always trying to find the best bargain! Over the past few years, Bob’s health had been deteriorating, including diagnosis of End Stage Renal Failure.

If one things is for sure, the garden was his happy place and when he he left this world, he was doing what he loved-gardening. Bob had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield.

Funeral procession from the funeral home on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ann by the Sea Parish Church, 591 Ocean Street, Marshfield. Bob will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory can be made to the Edith Anne Curtis Memorial Scholarship Fund, 29 Kenelm Drive, Marshfield MA 02050.

This is a scholarship given every year to an Marshfield High School student on Awards Night. We will continue this fund in remembrance of our mother, as well as add our father’s name to this scholarship. Edith and Robert were extremely involved in the sports and music programs.
