Robert L. Stephenson, 91, of Burlington, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019, in Des Moines. Born February 2, 1928, in Burlington, he was the son of Daniel Webster and Helen Marie Snodgrass Stephenson. On June 8, 1952, he married Mildred “Ginger” Carpenter.

Robert worked for NCR for over 30 years. He was a graduate of Burlington High School (Class of 45) and the University of Iowa. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Robert loved playing doubles tennis with his buddies, watching the tennis channel and drinking a glass or two of wine with his family. He had a great sense of humor, was very kind, and had a zest for life. Survivors include his children, Tim (MaryJane) Stephenson of Riva, MD, and Lucinda Stephenson of West Des Moines.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Ginger. Visitation will be Saturday, April 27th, 2019 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home from 9:00 AM to 11:00AM. The memorial service for Robert will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Dean Graber officiating.

Full military honors will be rendered by the Hamilton-Walters Marine Corps League. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the Community Room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the service. A memorial has been established for the Friends of the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge.
