Robert LeRoy Jones of Hamilton passed away on Wednesday, November 28th in his home at the age of 78 years old. He was born February 8th, 1940 to the late Martin Jones and Katherine (Parpolia) Jones. He was raised in Hamilton on the Bitterroot Stock Farm with his sister Judy (Jones) Spores and brother Donald Jones.

Bob joined the U.S. Navy after graduating from high school in 1958. Two years later he married his sweetheart, Bette Jeanne Kern. They then headed to California to find a home and start their family.

In 1961 Bob, Bette, and their infant son Dave moved back to the Bitterroot Valley. Bob went to work with his dad at the Ravalli Feed & Grain. Shortly thereafter, sons Mike and Darrin Jones were born.

Bob left the grain store to begin his career at the Ravalli Electric Co-op. In addition to his job at the co-op, Bob pursued his love of ranching by raising sheep on the family farm. Eventually Bob decided to farm full time and had many happy years of raising cattle and providing custom haying.

For those of you who knew him he was a great teller of stories. He enjoyed the outdoors and was happiest when he was on a tractor. In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his beloved sister Judy.

He is survived by his brother Don and his three sons: David Jones of Evanston, WY & Mike and Darrin Jones of Hamilton, MT. In adherence to Bob’s wishes, he has been cremated and his remains have been placed in the family plot at the Grantsdale Cemetery.
