Obituary for Mr. Robert Martin Garvey Obituary for Robert Martin Garvey Robert Martin Garvey of Edina MN, 69, died April 7, 2018 Robert was born at Richmond MN and grew up on his parents’ farm near Manannah MN graduating from Eden Valley-Watkins High School. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota and the American Institute of Banking. He served in the US Army in Vietnam 1972-1974 and received a bronze star for his meritorious service.

He was employed at the Pillsbury Company for 15 years and later at the Target Corporation as an Accountant in Marketing Finance from 1989 to 2013 when he retired. He is survived by his spouse of nearly 37 years, Gene Janssen, Edina, sisters, Rose Ann Hennen, Litchfield, and Kay Kipf (Bob) and sister-in-law, Shirley Garvey, Paynesville, as well as nieces and nephews: Lisa Mackedanz (Harold) Watkins; Jeanne Geislinger (Charles), Grove City; John J. Garvey, Paynesville; Tammy Stoffer (Mike), Litchfield; Craig Kipf (Becky), Watkins; Chad Kipf, Watkins; and Chuck Kipf (Christy) as well as great nieces and nephews and many cousins. He is also survived by Gene’s children (whom he counted as his own): Andrea Severson, Shoreview; Paul Janssen (Nancy), Woodstock IL; Margaret Janssen (Kim Lacek), White Bear Lake; Joel Janssen (David Schultz), Grand Rapids; Ingrid Janssen Emami (Marcel) Mannheim, Germany; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

His boundless kindness and generosity will be remembered as well as his love of choral music and football (Vikings fan). Funeral will be April 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 3045 Chicago Ave. So.

, Minneapolis with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the columbarium at Mount Olive. Memorials may be directed to the Mount Olive Music/Fine Arts Committee, to the Church of St. Patrick of Edina or to the donor’s choice.
