OBITUARY Robert Nicholas May 17, 1943 – October 26, 2018 Nicholas, Robert “Bob” It is with great sadness that the family of Robert “Bob” Nicholas, of Palmetto, Florida, announces his passing on Friday, October 26, 2018, at the age of 75. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of 51 years, Donna (nee Marini), and his children, Jennifer (Bruce) Schaeffer and Jeremy (Tamara). Bob will also be affectionately remembered by his three grandchildren, Devon, Jocelyn, and Brianna, his sister, Frances (Kernan), loving in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, and a host of long time friends.

He is predeceased by his son Joel, sisters Wilhelmina “Billie” (Bramonte) and Ellen (Anning), and brother, Albert. Bob was born in Laurel Springs, New Jersey on May 17, 1943 to Francis and Helen (nee Cline) and grew up in Gibsboro, New Jersey. He graduated from Haddonfield High School.

He had a long career as a Quality Control inspector and auditor for nuclear power plants that would take his family to Long Island, New York, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Crystal River, Florida. He spent the final years of his career traveling the country as a QC inspector for National Inspections and Consultants, NIC. Bob had fondness for family, friendships and fishing.

He was a Master Mason in good standing and a member of the Audubon-Parkside Lodge in New Jersey. He enjoyed traveling whether on a cruise ship or road trip. Bob was an active band parent at both Lecanto High School and Palmetto High School and was known as Dad or Pop to his many “adopted” kids.

A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Groover Funeral Home, 1400 36th Ave E, Ellenton, Florida. Guests are invited to visit with family at noon. A service and sharing of memories will begin at 1pm; reception to follow at the home of Jim and Margaret Wiggins.

Guests are encouraged to wear colorful attire or their favorite Hawaiian shirts in honor of Bob. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Robert Nicholas to Tidewell Hospice of Manatee County. When you are born, you cry, and the world rejoices.
