Obituary for Robert P. “Bob” Wentzel Print Robert P. Wentzel, 89, of Sinking Spring, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 10, 2019. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late John M. and Catherine (Hartman) Wentzel. He married his childhood sweetheart Jean H. (Hertzog) Wentzel, and they would have celebrated 68 wonderful years of marriage this April.

Bob was a 1947 graduate of Reading High School, a veteran of the US Army, and worked for over 20 years as a warehouse specialist for Park Jensen in Reading, retiring in 1989. More than anything, Bob was devoted to his friends and family. He was a compassionate, gentle man, who genuinely cared about everyone he met.

A devout catholic, Bob was a member of Sacred Heart RC Church, West Reading, where he served on a number of committees, and he and Jean were regulars at daily Mass. Bob enjoyed gardening, playing cards with his buddies and watching sports. He was especially a fan of football, and the NY Yankees.

Bob was also a respected Little League coach and umpire in West Wyomissing for 10 years. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his loving children: son Michael, husband of Gay, Sinking Spring; daughters Michele, wife of Charles Seyfert, Palm Coast, FL; Ann, wife of Walter Burkhart, West Lawn; and Bobbi, wife of Michael Williams, St. Louis, MO; as well as six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren (plus one more on the way! ).

Also surviving is a brother Charles Wentzel, and sister Dorothy Smith. Bob was predeceased by a brother John, and sisters Catherine Wickel and Janie Gasser. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 13, at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart RC Church West Reading.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s honor may be made to the Sacred Heart Memorial Fund, P.O.
