Obituary for Mr. Robert M. Wyper Robert M Wyper, Sr He was born August 4, 1922 and completed his journey on September 28, 2018. Born in St Louis, Missouri, lived his entire life in St Louis and died in St Louis.

If asked, he would tell you St Louis, to him, was the closest place to heaven. Raised in Jennings, graduated from Jennings High School. Left Jennings when drafted during World War ll.

The Army sent him to Ft Bliss, El Paso, TX, where he trained as a mechanic of the Anti-Aircraft 197 Battalion on Half-Trac vehicles. Sent to Virginia to practice amphibious landings, loaded on to the Queen Mary and sent to Scotland. He was one of many Americans that landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, June 6 1943 [of which he was MOST proud].

He was credited with 320 plus days in Combat. Participating in five European Campaigns, ending in Berlin, Germany VE Day 1945. Returning to Jennings, married Marian Nies, in June 1946 bearing four children: Robert, Barbara, Elizabeth and Michael.

While raising children he worked for Toledo Scales, and opened a brand new Texaco Filling Station on West Florissant. Then returning to Toledo Scales before retiring in 1982. He moved from Jennings to Florissant, and finally to Wentzville, but always close to his beloved St Louis.

Survivors include his four children: Robert [Christine] Wyper, JR, Barbara [John] Scherer, Elizabeth Wyper, and Michael Wyper; eight grandchildren: Michael, Christopher, Marian, Robert lll, Emma, Natalie, Jennipher, and Stephanie; and four great grandchildren: Caterea, Lyra, Adicus, and Alice. Appreciation for the care provided by the Veterans Affairs and VFW. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 pm at Bellerive on Thursday Oct 4, followed by Funeral Services at 2.

Interment Bellerive Garden’s Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors. Valhalla Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
