Obituary of Robert Niznik Robert Arthur Niznik, age 67, of Minooka, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, September 24, 2018 at home, from natural causes. Born April 21, 1951 in Joliet, he was a graduate of Joliet Catholic Academy, Joliet Junior College and the University of St. Francis, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, and his Master of Science degree in Nursing Administration. Bob was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

For 19 years, he was a resident of Clearwater, FL, returned to Illinois in 2001, and worked as a psychiatric nurse for AMITA Health Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. He was an avid fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Tampa Bay Rays. Bob will be remembered as a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother and uncle who was a professional and compassionate care giver.

He had a wonderful sense of humor and the ability to make everyone laugh. Surviving are his loving daughter, Andrea (Elias, Jr.) Tirado of Plainfield; three grandchildren, Azalia, Violet and Elias III; one sister, Cathy (Rick) Webster of Morris; one niece, Christy (Rick) Close; and one nephew, Ryan (Lindsey) Webster. He was a great-uncle to Calen and Alaina Close and Brantley Brooks.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Jo (nee Ciarlette) Niznik (September 18, 2014); his mother, Dorothy (nee Kelly) Slack; and his father, Gordon Niznik. A Celebration of Roberts life will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Cantigny VFW Post #367, 826 Horseshoe Dr, Joliet, IL 60435. Cremation rites have been accorded and interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville, will be private.
