Obituary of Robert Parkinson, Sr. Robert L. Parkinson Sr., 83, of Walton passed away Thursday morning, February 21, 2019, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. Robert was born on January 4, 1936 in Wayne City, IL. the son of the late George and Irene (Collins) Parkinson.

He married the former Beverly M. Palmer on August 18, 1957 at St Lukes Church, Haverstraw. She died on March 19, 2013. He proudly served his country in the US Army as a Signalman.

He was employed and lived for many years in the Haverstraw area before moving to Walton in 2005. He was a former member of the Thiels United Methodist Church and a Boy Scout Leader. Robert was employed by the Abex Corp where he made metal castings and later for Jim Smith Chevrolet.

Robert enjoyed fishing, joy riding around the countryside, tailgaiting parties and spending time with his family. Robert is survived by his loving family, his children, Renie (Dudley) Boycott, Walton; Leon (Laura) Parkinson of Middletown; Robert L. Parkinson, Rochester; John M. (Joan) Parkinson, Arizona; Leland R. (Lisa) Parkinson, Newburgh; 24 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, daughter in law, Lynn; sisters, Virginia Doggett and Eileen Gober; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Leonard on June 9, 2018, brother George and sisters, Norma and Alice Mae.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 1 to 3 PM and from 5 to 7 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton where a prayer service will be held at 3 PM. Memorial contributions in Robert’s memory may be made to Catskill Area Hospice, 297 River Street, Service Road, Oneonta, NY 13820.
