OBITUARY Robin Gaye Cassidy February 4, 1947 – December 3, 2018 Robin Gaye (Klein) Cassidy, age 71, passed away on Monday, December 3rd, at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, Washington, after a two-year battle with breast cancer. She was born on February 4th, 1947 to Robert and Rae (Helland) Klein in Seattle. She was the oldest of their four children and grew up with them in the Green Lake neighborhood, attended Lincoln High School (Class of ’65), and the University of Washington (Phi Mu Class of ’69).

Robin, often referred to as Gaye by family members, was a kind and nurturing soul, who always had a passion for helping every child learn and grow. She received her degree from the UW in Early Childhood Education, worked as a pre-school teacher in downtown Seattle, and for over 20 years as an Instructional Assistant at Horace Mann Elementary (LWSD) in Redmond. Her most valued role was to care deeply for her family.

Throughout her life and later fight with cancer, she loved to spend time and create memories with those that now survive her loss. This includes her husband, Murray (Ray) Cassidy; son Sean and wife Erinn Cassidy, daughter Erin (Cassidy) and husband Aaron Smalser; grandchildren Brooke and Drew Cassidy, Eli and Evelyn Smalser; brother Stephen and wife Roxanne Klein, sister Christy and husband Bill Delaney, sister Debra and husband Walker Barton. She is preceded in her death by her parents; grandparents George and Borghild Helland, and Ethel (Klein) Smith.

Burial plans at Acacia Memorial Park in Lake Forest Park have been made for immediate family members on Thursday, December 13th. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Robin’s name to Wings of Karen (www. wingsofkaren.org), a non-profit organization that supports local breast cancer research that she has supported in recent years through the Digs for Denise grass volleyball tournament run by family and friend.

In respect to her love for family time for both extended family and friends, a Celebration of Life gathering will be delayed until after the holidays and will be held on the weekend of January 12th in the greater Seattle area.
