Rod Mann January 20, 1942 – January 26, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Robert Rodman “Rod” Mann, 77, longtime resident of Arnold and Severna Park, passed away on January 26, 2019 at Hospice of the Chesapeake. Rod was born January 20, 1942 in Washington, DC to Harvey Wade and Catherine (nee Fahey) Mann. He grew up surrounded by multiple generations in Bethesda and graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School in 1960.

Married for 54 years, Rod and his wife, Sharon (nee Gibson), were proud McDonald’s Owner/Operators for 50 years in Baltimore, especially in Dundalk, MD. In 1980, Rod and Sharon helped establish Chesapeake Academy (now merged with Severn School) in Arnold, MD and was later named trustee emeritus. He was also a founder and trustee emeritus of the Ronald McDonald House in Baltimore.

Rod enjoyed boating and teaching hundreds of people to waterski, playing golf, and providing sound engineering for musical/drama productions at local charities, schools, and community events. Rod was also an Amateur Radio Operator, N3KBY, with the Maryland Mobileers Amateur Radio Club for almost 30 years. In addition to his wife, Rod is survived by his son Christopher (Jennifer) Mann of Severna Park and daughter Cynthia (Andrei) Enoiu of Ossining, NY; 3 grandchildren; and his brother Dr. Jesse (Victoria) Mann of Virginia Beach, VA.
