Obituary for Roger Alan Peterson Peterson, Roger Alan 84, passed away, Thursday, July 26 at his home in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Roger was born November 26, 1933 in Ortonville, Minnesota to Henning and Bertha Peterson. He graduated from Duluth Denfeld High School and from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and received his Doctorate in Education from the University of Minnesota.

He married Therese (Maher) Peterson in Duluth, Minnesota and eventually they moved to Edina, had four children and enjoyed many years of marriage before Therese’s death in 2008. Roger was employed as an elementary principal, most notably at Concord Elementary in Edina, for 30 years. Roger married Sharon Forkins on June 6, 2018, after many years together.

He enjoyed golfing, reading, and connecting with friends and family whenever possible. Roger is survived by his wife, Sharon, his children, Mary Elizabeth LaMuro , William Roger Peterson (Connie), Ann Margaret Meyer (Richard), and John Henning Peterson (Suzette). His grandchildren Christopher (Samantha), Maggie (Tony), Molly (Jade), Michael, Grace, Paul, Sadie and Sam, as well as Great-Grandchild Olivia; Siblings Richard (Eileen), Donald (Vonda), Gary, and Sharon Stenson; and his wife Sharon’s children Colleen Flamm (Barry) and Kathleen Baker, and grandchildren Matthew, Andrew, and Dillon.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Therese Maher Peterson. Visitation will begin at 6:15 p.m. with the Memorial Service following at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 31st at the Eden Prairie Chapel of the Washburn-McReavy Funeral Home, 7625 Mitchell Rd. , Eden Prairie, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
