Cobleskill- Roger J. Palmatier, Sr., 79, of Mohawk Drive, died Friday, November 30, 2018 at Samuel Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany following a short illness. Born October 24, 1939 in Cobleskill, he was the son of Raymond and Mabel (Stevens) Palmatier, Sr. Roger joined the ROTC program in 1955 and then in 1956 the United States Air Force. He proudly served our country until 1961 when he was honorably discharged.

Roger was employed as a welder for GE in Schenectady, also was an employee at Randall’s Feed Service in Cobleskill, then as a porter for the former Eden Park Nursing Home in Cobleskill and later as a driver for Flynn’s Auto Parts in Cobleskill for several years. He enjoyed dancing and roller-skating. His wife, Beverly, predeceased him in 2004.

Cherishing his memories are his four sons: Roger J. Palmatier, Jr. of Middleburgh, Robert (Joan) Palmatier of Cobleskill, Christopher (Christine) Palmatier, Sr. of Schoharie and David (Tammy) Palmatier of Blacksburg, VA; nineteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Roger’s life will be held privately with inurnment in Lawyersville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Marathon for a Better Life, PO Box 268, Warnerville, NY 12187.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
