Obituary for Roger Matthews Roger Matthews, age 79 of Vernon Twp. , passed away on Thursday, January 3rd, 2019 at the Newton Medical Center. Born in Sus, NJ to the late John and Goldie (Card) Mathews, Roger was a lifelong resident.

Roger owned his own carpentry business and was a volunteer with the Pochuck Fire Department. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing, golf, trips to Cape Cod, and spending time with his family. Predeceased by his sisters Thelma Little and Marian Dickerson, and son in law Jim Gangwer, Roger is survived by his loving wife, Joyce (Perry) Matthews; daughters Denise MacClugage of Middletown, NY, Lori Gangwer of Montague, NJ, and Janice Matthews and husband John VanDyke of Wantage, NJ; brother Ted and wife Robin Mathews of NC; and sister Marla and husband Terry Jarosh of FL.

Also surviving are grandchildren Erin MacClugage, Jodi Gangwer, and Kevin Roger Matthews, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Memorial Visitation for Roger will be held on Tuesday, January 8th, 2019 from 4-7PM at the Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third Street, Sus, NJ 07461, with a memorial service taking place at 5:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude the Apostle RC Church, 4 Beaver Run Road, Hardyston, NJ 07419.
