Funeral for Roland Nix, 84, of Decatur will be Monday, May 21, 2018, at Parkway Funeral Home, at 11:00 PM with Nicky Pressnell officiating. Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Nix, who died Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born, November 1, 1933, to William Harvey Nix and Ozell Hill Nix. He was a member of Dancy Chapel Church of Christ. Mr. Nix retired for Wolverine after 23 years.

He enjoyed doing things for his family and for the sick. He was a Alabama football fan, NASCAR and working around the house. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters-Hazel Overton and Betty Holder Survivors include: Wife of 65 years – Averine Baker Nix 2 Daughters – Karen Nix Wigginton and Phyllis (Barry) Ferguson Sister – Barbara Criscoe 5 Grand Children – Kelli Wigginton Roberts, Dana Ferguson Olukoya, Hilary Ferguson Freeman, Trey Ferguson and Drew Ferguson 2 Great Grand Children- Sylas Shroeder and Elijah Freeman Pallbearers will be family and friends.
