Obituary for Roland Raymond Brosseau Print Roland Raymond Brosseau, age 83, of South Burlington (formerly from Winooski), passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Birchwood Terrace. He was born May 25, 1935 in Burlington, VT, son of Raymond and Jeanne (Mercure) Brosseau. After high school graduation, he served four years in the United States Air Force as a radar operator during the Korean War in Cape Lisburne Alaska.

He then attended Saint Michael’s College, graduating in 1961. He married Gloria Hatin in 1958 and together they raised seven children. He was a social studies teacher for 30 years at Winooski High School, also spending many summers working as a security guard at General Electric.

He was a proud volunteer for 15 years at the Vermont Militia Museum at Camp Johnson in Colchester. He enjoyed taking walks in the woods, picking berries, ice skating, fishing, reading, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Gloria; their seven children: Monique and her husband Pete of Craftsbury, VT; Mike and his wife Tina of Rochester, NY; Carole and her husband Dave of Stowe, VT; Rob and his wife Ann of Kansas City, MO; Pat of Charlottesville, VA; Betsy and her husband Kevin of Highgate Ctr.

, VT; Aimee and her husband Jeremy of Fletcher, VT; 12 grandchildren (Justin, Cody, Greg, Matt, Marissa, Christie, Matt, Abbey, Ethan, Nick, Jack, and Eli) and two great-grandchildren (Sebastian and Alexander). He is also survived by his three siblings; Paul of Winooski, VT; Diane of Scottsdale, AZ; and Gerald of Sarasota, FL and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to thank the staff at the special care unit at Birchwood Terrace.

We appreciate their genuine compassion, caring, and dedication to everyone. Memorial contributions may be made to “Birchwood Activity Fund”, 43 Starr Farm Rd. , Burlington, VT 05408 Visiting hours will be Monday, January 28 from 3:00pm-6:00pm at LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Winooski, with a prayer service immediately following.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 29 at 11:00am at St. Stephen’s Church in Winooski, with interment to follow at St Francis Xavier Cemetery in Winooski. Condolences may be shared at www. lavignefuneralhome.com.
