Ron Knight, 75, of Fort Myers, Florida passed away Tuesday, February 12th, at Gulf Coast Medical Center with his wife and eldest son by his side. Ron was born February 10, 1944, in Dearborn, Michigan, to Louie August and Lola Mae Knight. Ron was a Veteran who proudly served his country overseas in Vietnam, and later became an agent for Farm Bureau Insurance.

He retired to the Sunshine State where each week is made up of six Saturdays and one Sunday. Ron was an avid golfer and member of the San Carlos Golf Club. He enjoyed tooling around in his golf cart visiting neighbors, fishing in his boat with his sons, listening to gospel music, cooking gourmet meals, teaching his wife and youngest son how to play golf, then watching his son make a career as a PGA Professional, watching the Detroit Tigers, sharing his pride in his three kids’ accomplishments, and making nonstop puns.

He was well-loved for his sense of humor, quick wit, ability to make friends wherever he went, and his outgoing personality. Ron was preceded in death by his mother and father, and brother, Frank Knight. Ron is survived by his best friend and loving wife of thirty years, Jackie; son Christopher (Danette) Knight of Boyne City, Michigan; daughter Cari Knight of Burbank, California; son Nicholas (Jess) Knight of Long Lake, Minnesota; brother Earnie (Barbara) Knight of Aiken, South Carolina; brother Dan (Sue) Knight of Burtchville, Michigan; sister Kitty (Leo) Chase of Gulf Shores, Alabama; half-brother George (Shirley) DePew of Tekonsha, Michigan; half-sister Alice Luther of Coloma, Michigan; half-brother Jim DePew of Hillsdale, Michigan; and his grandchildren Cameron and Miranda of Boyne City; and soon to arrive, grandbaby of his youngest son, Nick and Jess.

This one, he will watch over and adore from Heaven. A memorial event will be scheduled at a later date to celebrate this wonderful man and his life.
