Ronald’s Obituary The world seems less colorful since Ronald A. Loverich unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019. Three quarters of a century ago, Ron was born to the late Arthur and Edith (Wolf) Loverich in Gary, Indiana. Those 75 years were filled with family, friends, lots of projects, and a few years serving his country in the Air Force.
He loved his Purdue University and it seems fitting that his two daughters and wife all attended Indiana University to humble him. Although he started out in the corporate world working for P&G, he ultimately left to follow his baby brother building homes for Loverich Construction. From there, he spent his days as a building contractor.
However, calling him a building contractor simply doesn’t do his work justice. Truly, he was an artisan. He could take a simple project, see its potential and turn it into something unexpected.
He was tireless in his loyalty to friends, family and even those he just met. Ron was a man you wanted to be around. He could find the best in you and at the same time made you strive to be even better.
He gave everyone room for growth and knew there must be a logical reason for poor decisions. And there wasn’t a science or nature topic that didn’t fascinate him. He laughed with you.
He found a friend around every corner. He was a happy, kind and contented man. It’s hard to imagine a world without Ron Loverich.
Ron will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Deborah (Heck) Loverich; two daughters, Stephanie (Gregory) Hunter and Renee (Philip) Vrska; two stepsons, Corey (Wendy) Schnarr and Aaron (Ari) Schnarr; brother, Richard (Barbara) Loverich; two sisters, Laurel (John) Johnson and Rebecca (John) Lancaster; ten grandchildren, Jamison Hunter, Emmaline, Brycen and Bethany Vrska, Kaydie Stalbaum, Kayla and Kristopher Burns, Elijah, Gavin and Sawyer Schnarr; two great-grandsons, Liam and Bryant Stalbaum and many other dear family and friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 3:00-7:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana 46368.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, May 10, 2019 at 10:00 am with Rev. Paul Quanz officiating at Our Lady of Sorrows, 356 West Seven Mile Road, Valparaiso, Indiana 46385. Cremation will follow.
