Obituary for Ronald Alexander Print Ronald Phillip Alexander “Big Alex” “Mr. A.” “Ronnie” Ronald P. Alexander “Alex,” 82, went home to God early Sunday morning on February 3, 2019. Born and raised in Ironton, Ohio, son of Hannah E. Hale and Floyd Alexander, (both deceased) Ronald or Ronnie as he was affectionately called, was educated in the Ironton school system. He was very athletic during his school years and played basketball and track and field where he received recognition and numerous awards for his accomplishments.

Following graduation, Alex joined the Air Force as a radar technician and was stationed in Texas, Mississippi, Japan, and of course, Palermo, New Jersey. While in Palermo, he met the love of his life, Irma L. Watts of Pleasantville, New Jersey. Together they were joined in holy matrimony on June 17, 1960.

After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, Alex held several jobs before accepting a position in security with the Pleasantville Board of Education in September 1979 where he was well loved and respected. Alex had many adventures at Pleasantville high school and was remembered by many students, faculty, staff and parents. Alex was very active in the community – volunteering with the youth at open gym nights.

He coached for P.A.L. basketball and worked the Adult Basketball Summer League. He was also an active member of Hiram Abiff #16, Prince Hall Lodge, and Mount Consistory Hall Lodge as well as a member of the Atlantic City Old Tymers. Alex is survived by his wife Irma (nea Watts), four daughters: Pamela Graham of Greensboro North Carolina, Monique Burton & Andrea Alexander of Pleasantville, and Toni Alexander of Brigantine; one sister Marta Cofer (Myron); one brother Harold T. Pleasant (Cheryl); 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; best friend Troy Johnson, Masonic brothers, and a host of family members and friends to cherish his memories.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Faith Baptist Church, 829 Tilton Road, Pleasantville NJ. from 10 until 11am with an 11am service at the church. Interment will be held at Atlantic County Veteran’s Cemetery.
