Ronald E. Barner, 78, 44 Peach Orchard Road, Mill Hall, PA died Nov. 1, 2018 at UPMC Lock Haven Hospital. Born June 19, 1940 in Lock Haven,he was the son of the late Mahlon H. and Sarah L. Kunes Barner.

On July 13, 1965 in the Trinity Methodist Church, Lock Haven he married Marcia S. Waite who survives at home. Ron had worked as carpenter for the M. H. Barner Contractors and was a machine operator at Clinton Paper Co. for 13 years. For the next 35 years he had worked at the TA Truckstop in Lamar as the Property Maintenance Supervisor until he retired.

Baptized in his youth at the Sylvan Hills Church Camp, Ron attended the Salona/Mt. Bethel United Church of Christ Charge. He was a member of the Bald Eagle- Nittany High School Class of 1958 where he was the class treasurer.

He participated in the Off BEN Ave. Follies for a number of years and was a band parent officer while his children were in the band. Ron was a life member of the Nittany Valley Vol.

Fire Co. where he had been President and Assistant Chief; Fire Police Chief; a member of the Clinton Co. Firemen’s Association and was the Secretary for 25 years; a member of the Central District and the state Firemen’s Assoc. Ron also was a charter member and Past Worthy President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles # 4298, Lock Haven, PA and was the District 15 chairman for a number of years. He and his wife enjoyed camping and made many joyful family memories at the outings.

He is survived by: 1 Daughter: Charlene Kay ( David A.)Brungard, Lock Haven, PA 1 Son: Ronald Kevin (Wendy) Barner, Greenburr, PA 3 Sisters: Peggy Lou Heilman, Fleetwood, PA, Linda Poorman & Elaine (Jerry) Winner both of Mill Hall, PA 6 Grandchildren : Brigette Barner, Melinda (Mike) Regester, Ashley (Blair) Strouse, Russell (Chesney) Brungard, Daniel Brungard and Bethany Brungard 3 Great-Grandchildren: Ryan and Brody Strouse and Owen Regester. Also nieces & nephews ***Preceded in death by: 1 Niece: Bonnie Lou Heilman 2 Brothers-in-law: Robert P. Heilman and Jack M. Poorman A funeral service to honor the life of Ronald E. Barner will be held Monday, Nov. 5, 2018 at 1 PM in the Dean K. Wetzler, Jr. Funeral Home, 320 Main St. Mill Hall, PA with Pastor Cindy Killinger officiating.

Friends will be received in the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. until time of services. Interment, Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall, PA. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Salona United Church of Christ, the Nittany Valley Fire Co., the Jersey Shore Public Library or the charity of the donor’s choice through the funeral home.
