A Time to Be Born. Ronald Lee Summers was born August 16, 1953 in Dover, Delaware, to the loving arms of his mother, Clara Blanche Summers Baynard, who raised him, along with his Stepfather, John Baynard, in the Willow Grove Community. He is the eldest of four children.
A Time to Learn. From the beginning of his formal education, Ronald demonstrated an extraordinary intellectual ability. He was educated in the Delaware Public School System, Caesar Rodney School District, and further advancement through Phillips 66 Leadership Development.
A Time to Work. Ron’s work career started in Retail Sales for Sears Roebuck and Company. in the Men’s Department, where he developed a flair for fashions and was later known for his Fashion Extraordinaire expertise.
He was employed by the State of Delaware at the Division of Archives and Historical Affairs, where he is credited with developing and implementing a new filing system that is still used today. His greatest accomplishment was with Phillips 66, with 38 years of dedicated service with the company, starting at the plant in Middletown, Delaware. When Ron started working, not many positions were given to African Americans during that era, as the workforce was 98% Caucasian.
After relocating to Anaheim Hills, California, he worked various jobs before reconnecting with Phillips 66. He held many positions, starting at the bottom and working his way up. His leadership roles included extensive hours of training, education, and developing the skills needed to train new employees, always being that role model for others to emulate.
He was known all over the company for his leadership, loyalty, dedication, and work ethics, retiring in 2017. Ron did not forget his civic duty, as he also served in the U.S. Marines. In fact, while there, he developed a love of Boxing.
That fighting spirit that God gave him would serve him well throughout his life, most remarkably in the last phases of his time here on earth. A Time to Love. In 2009, Ron was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Faithette R. Foreman.
It was a love that transcended time; one that endured the test of time. Their love for each other started when they met during their teenage years. From their early years of reminiscing about home ownership, starting with owning a double-wide to the beautiful home God blessed them with in The Orchards.
The love they shared cannot be measured by man. The love they had for each other enabled them to enjoy traveling together to many places; dining together in exotic, fine dining locations; riding together on Ron’s Harley motorcycle; sweating together in yard work; and basking together, as they viewed God’s creations. Ron especially loved playing the harmonica; and listening to all kinds of music.
To all who knew Ron, they knew that he fiercely loved his wife; he loved his family and friends; and, above all, he loved God. A Time to Rest. On Friday, March 22, 2019, God dispatched an angel to visit our beloved Ron, who answered his summons to Heaven.
He was 65 years young. His memory is replete with an abundance of love and accomplishments worthy of our recognition and emulation. Ronnie will forever be a of inspiration and love to all of us.
In addition to his mother and stepfather, Ron was preceded in death by his grandparents (Walter and Clara May Summers) and his Sister-in-Law, Teresa Foreman. A Time to Mourn. Ron leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Faithette, his former wife, Marcie of Colorado; his daughter, Erainia Caldwell; his son Michael Richardson, Anaheim, CA; 2 grandchildren: Jahi White and Shaa’Kira White; two great grandchildren; 3 Siblings: John Baynard, Eugene Baynard, and Pearl Baynard; his Mother-in-Law, Marie Foreman; a Brother-in-Law, Pierre Foreman; a Sister-in-Law, Robin White; one Aunt, Marthena Summers, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, too numerous to mention.
