OBITUARY Rosa L Kerr September 6, 1942 – September 17, 2018 Rosa L Kerr Beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt and Grandmother On September 17th my beloved mother took her last breath here with us but her first breath into her new life above…the horns were sounding and the celebration in the clouds was just beginning, I have full faith that our Lord welcomed my mother with open arms. Rosa Laurencia Marin was born September 6th 1942 in San Gabriel, Ca. To Rosa Aguilar (Los Angeles, Ca) and Raphael Ramirez (Durango, MX).
She was the youngest of their daughters and although she moved to San Diego in 1976 her “home” and heart were always in San Gabriel. In 1976 she left Rosemead, Ca. And moved to San Diego with her three children after marrying a U.S. Navy Sailor named Robert S. Kerr (the step dad who would go on to raise us as well as being married to my mother for 42 years.
) My moms heart was with Robert until the very end, through ups and downs, through all life’s trials and tribulations she loved this man with all of her heart. Upon arriving in 1976, We moved into what was the first of 16 years in Murphy Canyon Navy Housing (located in Tierrasanta) , my mom opened her home up to anybody and everyone who stepped foot into our home. Countless parties where she would cook meals that everybody loved….
Fried Chicken…. better than the Colonels! , various Mexican Food that everybody loved.
She just didn’t make dinner for our family, she made dinner for anybody else that knocked on the door during dinner. Around 1983 she went to work for the VNA (Visiting Nurses Association) as part of their records management team, then onto Sharp Home Health until she retired back in 2001 (around there). She was known as “Momma Rosie” to all of her co-workers, she was the ear they could vent and the shoulder they could cry on…she was always there for them.
She leaves behind not only her husband, but 3 children (A son and two daughters) and 6 Grandchildren. (She adored my wife as if it were her own daughter, often telling everyone “she’s my daughter in-law from heaven”). My kids as well as my nephew called her “Granny” which she absolutely loved.
I don’t think there was ever a limit that she would ever have for the grandkids (all of them), she would have done anything for them. They could do no wrong in her eyes. I am also thankful for the special bond that my mother and I had…I get my silliness from her, my mom was a joker who also loved to laugh.
She was giving in more ways than I could mention, she simply wanted to make people happy, that was her only goal. For those who knew my mom, even those who briefly knew her will all be able to tell you just how special she was. She was a mom to all….
and the best mom I could have ever received. Bless your heart mom, we miss you more than words…. until we see each other again.
