Obituary for Rosaline “Rose” Gertrude Bax Mantle Rosaline “Rose” Gertrude Bax Mantle passed away on September 19, 2018. Rose was born in St. Elizabeth, Missouri on May 26, 1921, to Conrad and Anna Bax. She married Charles Emery “Joe” Mantle on November 6, 1943, and lived in St. Louis and Florissant, Missouri.
In 1967, they moved to Naples, FL where Joe and Rose joined her sister and brother-in-law, Bea and John Caskey, in opening Naples Rent-All and Sales Company. Joe pre-deceased Rose on January 14, 1983. Rose was active in the Home and School Association at St. Ann Catholic School, Girl Scouts, Opti-Mrs. Service Club, the 500 Club and numerous bowling leagues, the Red Hats Club, and the Poker Group at the Greenwood Circle Clubhouse.
She was an active member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and was a founding member of its Council of Catholic Women. In 2013, Rose moved to Orlando, Florida where she resided at Orlando Lutheran Towers. She treasured her friends there, and remained active playing cards every night, Bingo when she could, and attending Prayer and Communion Services.
Her crystal blue eyes always conveyed love and spoke volumes and will be remembered fondly by many. Her adoring family is filled with incredible memories of her faith, refulness, contagious work ethic, and true kindness, and they know she is at peace with her loving Savior. She is survived by her four children: daughter Linda Shaughnessy and husband Kevin of Orlando, FL; daughter JoAnn Millard and husband Steve of Jacksonville, FL; son Charles E. “Chuck” Mantle, Jr. and his wife Suzi of Puyallup, WA; and son Timothy Mantle and his wife Laurie of Deltona, FL; eleven grandchildren: Ryan Shaughnessy (Melissa), Courtney Shaughnessy Byrnes (Daniel) and Aidan Shaughnessy, all of Orlando, FL; Delaney Lin Millard and Alex Millard of Jacksonville, FL; Sara Mantle McNally (Brad) of Seattle, WA; Beth Mantle of Puyallup, WA; Caitlin Mantle Patt (Jason) of Nashville, TN; Rosemary Mantle of Atlanta, GA; and David Mantle and Zoe Mantle of Deltona, FL; and (almost!
) five great grandchildren: Caroline Rose Byrnes, Catherine “Cate” Emery Byrnes and Jack Daniel Byrnes of Orlando, FL; Micah McNally of Seattle, WA; and Ella Juliann Shaughnessy of Orlando, FL, who will be born in early November. She is also survived by one sister, Emojean Bax Stenger (Steve) and one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Bax, both of St. Louis, MO, and by numerous nieces and nephews and their children. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 29th at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Orlando Lutheran Towers in Orlando, FL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on October 19th at 4:30 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Naples, FL; a visitation will be held at the Church at 3:30 p.m. before the Mass. She will be interned with her beloved Joe on Saturday, October 20th at 9:30 a.m. at Naples Memorial Gardens.
