Rose Marie Hooper, nee Lockhart, of St. James, Missouri and formerly of Cherryville, Missouri passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 at her home at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 17 days. She was born October 23, 1945 in St. Charles, Missouri to William Edward Lockhart and Frances Swanes Lockhart. Rose was married to Kester “Shorty” Hooper.

Rose was employed in St. Louis for a number of years at Ford Motor Company as a cook. She enjoyed crocheting and was musically talented. She played the dog-bass guitar and spent some time at Silver Dollar City playing music with her husband.

She is survived by one son, Richard McDowell of Salem, MO; three step-sons, John Hooper of Rolla, MO, Mike Hooper and wife Cheryl of St. James, MO and Danny Hooper and wife Tammy of Moberly, MO; one brother, Ronnie Knepler of Belton, TX; three sisters; Eleanor Rolllins of Temple, TX, Effie Williams of Ocala, FL and Donna Roemer of Leander, TX; several grandchildren; other relatives; and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Shorty Hooper; one step-daughter, Linda Hooper; one brother, Russell Knepler; and one sister, Billie Jean Williams. The Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.

A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO. The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home.
