Rose’s Obituary Rose Weaver, age 95, of White Earth, MN, died on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at her home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Rose Marie Jackson was born in White Earth on November 3, 1923, the daughter of Louis and Mary (Roy) Jackson. She grew up in White Earth where she attended school and attended school in Flandreau, SD.

After Flandreau, Rose moved back home and met the love of her life; Vernon Weaver. They were united in marriage in 1952. The couple settled in the White Earth area where they raised their family.

After working for 20+ years as a CHR. Rose began working as a cook at the Congregate Housing and Head Start Program in White Earth. She also worked for the Chemical Dependency Unit and retired shortly afterwards.

Vernon passed away in June of 1996 and Rose continued to live at her home in White Earth. Rose remained very independent and lived at home and drove herself to and from places. Within the last year or so her health began to deteriorate, and she had to rely on help from family and friends for her everyday chores.

Rose has lived through eras and seen many changes in her life. She has sat in a room only lit by a kerosene lamp, to hitting a light switch to brighten the room. Carrying water from the outside pump to turning on a faucet inside of the house.

She has seen the changes in transportation from horse and buggy to fast-paced cars. Through all these changes in her life, she has left a legacy of her own with family and friends. Rose was a people person and appreciated a good visit and lots of laughter with family and friends.

She loved to hear about the hunting stories and couldn’t wait for the grandkids and all the babies to come visit. Rose enjoyed going to the casino and playing both regular and bar Bingo. She was a wonderful cook and baker; the fry bread and the sweet breads were her specialty.

Rose also enjoyed animals, and she had a special place in her heart for her dog, Lily, and her pups. Rose could be simply lost in thought and watching the birds feeding through her dining room window. She will be greatly missed by many.

Rose is survived by three daughters: Aurelia “Zing” (Ken) Brown, Amelia “Bitsie’ (Mike) Bray, both of White Earth and Karen (Wade) Borah of Ogema, MN; one son, Floyd (LeAnn) Person of Mahnomen; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis & Mary; husband, Vernon; two sons, Paul and Craig; three brothers: Ole, George and Edward; four sisters: Victoria, Irene, Celia and Mae; and four grandchildren: Dominic, Paige, Craig Jr. and infant, Curtis. A visitation will begin at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Rose’s Home in White Earth, MN.

A Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm. Visitation will continue until the time of the Funeral at 1:00 pm, Thursday, May 16, 2019, also at Rose’s home. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, White Earth, MN.
