Mrs. Rosemary A. (Lapinsky) Niznik R.N., 89, formerly of Auburn Street in the North End section of Wilkes-Barre, passed into Eternal Life early Monday morning in the care of the Timber Ridge Health Care Center, Plains Township, where she recently resided. Born December 31, 1928 in Wilkes-Barre, Mrs. Niznik would have celebrated her ninetieth birthday the end of this month. She was the daughter to the late Jacob and Catherine (Modla) Lapinsky.

Educated in the city schools, she was a member of the 1946 graduating class of the former Saint Nicholas High School, Wilkes-Barre and furthered her education towards her vocation by graduating from the former Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing. Following the successful completion of her state board examination, Mrs. Niznik became licensed as a registered nurse in 1949. Until her retirement, Mrs. Niznik was self-employed as a private duty nurse locally, and previously worked in various departments of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

She was a member of the Parish of Saint Andre Bessette, North Wilkes-Barre. Mrs. Niznik is remembered as being a loving mother, grandmother and devoted nurse of whom was the “life of the party” at family and community gatherings. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Stanley A. Niznik on February 22, 2017. At the time of his passing, the couple shared some sixty-six years of married life together. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Thomas Niznik of North Wilkes-Barre; Diane Shevchuk and her husband David, of Chicago, Illinois; Rosemarie Niznik, fiancè of Chip (Raymond) Millholland, of Kenosha, Wisconsin; Grandson, Jason Niznik of Pittston; Several nieces, nephews, former neighbors and dear friends.

Memorial funeral services for Mrs. Niznik will be conducted on Monday at 10:00 am in the Parish of Saint Andre Bessette, 668 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. The Reverend Kenneth M. Seegar, her pastor will serve as celebrant and homilist. Inurnment with the Rite of Committal will be next to her husband in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, PA Route #415, Dallas.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the Niznik family for visitation and remembrances Monday morning directly at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of her funeral mass. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Timber Ridge Health Care for the medical care and support given to our mother.
