OBITUARY Ross Carrier September 8, 1959 – January 17, 2019 Gregory Ross Carrier, 59, went home to be with the Lord on January 17, 2019. He was born in Coral Gables, Fla. , on September 8, 1959.
He was a 1977 graduate of Westminster Christian School, received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Ross was known for his infectious joy and kindness. He never met a stranger, enjoyed hearty conversation and was deeply devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren.
He had a deep faith in his Lord and Savior, and never doubted that his eternity would be spent in Heaven with Him. After college, Ross began his business career in Miami, then Greenville, S.C. For the last nearly 20 years, Ross was a leader in Jacksonville’s commercial real estate industry, gaining the unyielding admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Like his father and grandfather before him, Ross will be remembered as a kind and generous man, respected and successful businessman and father and husband whose love for his family was without parallel.
He was predeceased by his wife, Deedy, of 32 years. His life will forever be cherished by his four children, JuliAnne (Michael) Kelly, Greg (Camille) Carrier, Christine Carrier and Allison Carrier; three grandchildren, Palmer and Reese Kelly and Crawford Carrier; one brother, Chris (Leslie) Carrier, one sister, Amy (Adam) Hollingsworth; an uncle, Ray (Jan) Ross; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and a loving set of brothers and sisters-in-law. Ross was a member of Chets Creek Church in Jacksonville, Fla.
, where he served with his wife in a number of ministry areas. He was an active parent volunteer at Jacksonville’s Providence School, where all four of his children attended and graduated. Ross also served on the board of World Sports, an international ministry for professional athletes.
A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2019, 2:30 p.m., at Chets Creek Church, 4420 Hodges Blvd. , Jacksonville, Fla. , with the Rev.
Stephen E. (Spike) Hogan officiating. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, January 20, 2019, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., in the Chets Creek Church sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial gifts be made to Chets Creek Church, 4420 Hodges Blvd.
