Obituary for Ross Rogers, Jr. Captain Ross Rogers, Jr. Born January 18, 1926 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania Died June 5, 2018 at Monroeville Rahab and Wellness. U.S. Navy veteran Ross, Jr. was the son of Eleanor and Captain Ross Rogers, Sr. Steamboat and Diesel boat Capt. , Ross loved the river, especially the Monongahela River.

Ross was a Pilot and Capt. for the American Commercial Barge Line, the Federal Barge Line, the Ohio and Mississippi Valley Barge Lines, Hillman Barge and Construction Co. and others. Ross went to Brazil working for U.S. Steel advising authorities on Pittsburgh’s “Reese built Prefabricated” boats.

Ross had been a Board member of the Sewickley Historical Society, an honorary member of the Masons and held a River Barge Patent. Ross wrote many riverboat articles for “The Waterways Journal”. Ross will be greatly missed by his dear friend Edna Giuliano, who took good care of him, and his many other friends including John and Glinda Bowman.
