Roxie Black, age 76 of Fort Thomas passed away at her home on February 5, 2019. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was born on September 9, 1942 in Mesa, AZ and raised in Clifton, AZ by her parents, Dick and LaPreel (Hancock) Goodman.

She had one brother, Joe Goodman, Sr She graduated from Clifton High School in 1960 then attended Eastern Arizona College where she met Ellis Black. They were married in the Mesa, Arizona Temple on August 7, 1963.

They were blessed with 7 children, Dixie, Mary Kaye, Ellisa, Bill, Rusty, Larry and Gene. She spent her time as a homemaker until her children were raised. After that, she became a substitute teacher and enjoyed spending many days at Ft.

Thomas High School. Roxie enjoyed crocheting, needle point, painting and making jewelry. She also enjoyed playing video games, especially Tetris, and prided herself in beating her kids’ high scores while they were at school.

Roxie loved her family, especially her grandkids. She is survived by her husband, Ellis Black of Fort Thomas; Her children, Mary Kaye Black of Gilbert, Ellisa Black (Danny Carrasco), Bill Black (Karen), Rusty Black (Becki), Larry Black (Tara), and Gene Black (Beth), all of the Gila Valley; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, as well as 2 sisters, Thelma May McGrath of Orem, Utah and Iva Lou McKay of Sunsites, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents Dick and LaPreel Goodman, her brother, Joe Goodman, Sr., and her daughter, Dixie Black.

Funeral services for Roxie will be held at the Fort Thomas LDS chapel on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., with a viewing Friday evening, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Ft. Thomas church and Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m., prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in the Ashurst Cemetery following services.
