Roy Earl Blashford Jr, October 21, 1924 — December 24, 2018

Obituary for Roy Earl Blashford Jr. Roy E. Blashford Age 94, of Verona, PA, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2018. He was born in Aspinwall, PA, on October 21, 1924, son of the late Roy and Sara Agnes Blashford. Preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kathryn Kropinak (1987); and brothers, John (2008) and George (2018).

He is survived by his wife, Norah Blashford; and his two children, Scott (Clare) Blashford, and Lynne (Stephen) Kropinak. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Alexander (Jennifer), Timothy, Eric, Philip, Grant, Ford, Jack, Max; great-grandchildren, Calvin and Maggie. Roy served in the Army Air Corps during WWII.

In 1955, he married the love of his life, Norah Blashford, and moved to Verona, PA. Roy owned his own house painting and wallpaper hanging business, applying his craft to many homes in the Pittsburgh area, not fully retiring until his early 80s. He was a member of Rosedale United Methodist church, where he and Norah would cook meals for the community’s homeless.

Roy was a loving caretaker to his wife, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was kind, had a quiet way of giving advice and a subtle wit, loved to tell stories and was always up for a game of dominos or Rummikub. He was always planning the menu for the next family gathering, often preparing his signature dishes of goulash and spaghetti and meatballs.

He was proud of his flower garden and loved the summer months, and Irish music. He lived a full life and will be missed dearly by all. A memorial service is planned for the near future.
