BURNSIDE, Mr. Roy L. Kalamazoo, MI Died Wednesday evening January 16, 2019. Roy was born January 22, 1933 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son of Peter and Theresa (Bailey) Burnside. He served eight years in the U.S. Marine Corps.

(1952-1960). He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with the Borroughs Corporation for over 30 years, before retiring in 1993. Roy also attended St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 53 years Delores J. Burnside on August 18, 2009; 2 brothers, Robert and Tom Burnside; and a grandson, Andrew “AJ” Irving. On January 16, 2016, he was united in marriage to Mary L. (Hoovert) Burnside who survives. Also surviving, 3 children, Cherie Burnside of San Antonio, TX, Lori (Quinton Malone) Irving of Parchment, and Garth Burnside of Lakeland, MI; 5 grandchildren Emily (George) Daggett, Patrick (Shelby) Bowdy, Amanda Burnside, Ashley Burnside, and Ami Irving; 3 great-grandchildren (Jordan and George Daggett, and Owen Stevens); a sister, Beverly “Jean” Clair of Kalamazoo; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside service will be announced and held in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. There will be no visitation.
