Mr. Roy Mellott Jr., age 66 of Franklin, KY, passed away Monday, April 29, 2019 at 12:26 PM at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home where services will be held at 6:00 PM Friday, May 3, 2019. Cremation will follow services.

Roy was born June 7, 1952 in Rahway, New Jersey to the late Roy Mellott Sr. and the late Helen Paskovich Mellott. He was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Sue Welshman. He is survived by his wife Paula Mellott, a son, Jonathan Andrew Mellott (Morgan) of Paris, KY, a brother, William James Mellott (Barbara) of Hillsborough, NJ, a sister, Mary Elizabeth “Cookie” Lewis (David) of Rahway, NJ, a grandson, Macon Alexander Mellott.

Roy was a member at Richpond Baptist Church. He retired from Simpson County School system where he taught shop, carpentry, and tech ed. Roy was also a former Franklin-Simpson High School girls softball coach, Franklin-Simpson High School sports announcer for basketball and baseball.

He was a scoutmaster, and a care taker of the Scout Camp in Russellville, KY. Roy had a love for being outdoors and whittling. He belonged to the National Education Association, Sons of the American Revolution, Boy Scouts of America, Trail Life, and the National Rifle Association.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time, Friday, May 3, 2019 at Gilbert Funeral Home.
