Obituary for Ruben Dale Towery It is with great sadness that the family of Ruben Dale Towery announces his passing after a difficult and protracted illness, on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at the age of 39 years. Ruben’s untimely death was preceded by the death of his mother, Terri Lynn White Crosby, who passed away in 2002 after a lengthy battle with breast cancer. Ruben attended South Jones High School in Ellisville, MS, where he stared in baseball and football and graduated with honors.

Ruben graduated from Mississippi State University, Starkville, MS, in 2002 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Following graduation, Ruben worked as a Transmission Line Engineer for Southern Company, Birmingham, AL. Ruben will be remembered for his infectious personality and euphoric spirit.

He had a special gift of empathy and reached out to those marginalized and less fortunate. Ruben’s greatest joy in life was his son, Jacob Eli. Ruben is survived by his nine-year-old son, Jacob Eli Towery; wife, Beverly Lee Towery, Mt.

Olive, AL; his father, Claude Dale Towery; his brother, Claude Rion Towery, both from Dallas, TX; his sisters, Callie Lynn Crosby Freeman, from Laurel, MS, and Heather Avelina Towery, Dallas, TX; aunt, Debo (Deborah White Dykes); uncle, David Dykes, Jackson, MS; aunt, Patricia White Viser, Shreveport, LA. Ruben also is survived by other family members, Jerry and Stephanie Crosby, Michael and Lauren Crosby, Michelle and Charlie Bradley, Matthew and Brittany Crosby, Krissi and Troy Fulton, Tiffany and Landon Adams, Bekah Myers, Randi Franklin, James Myers, Kylee Grace Myers, Georgia Lynn Franklin, and Jerry Clint Harris, II. Ruben is also survived by intimate friends, Jualynda Smith, Corey Hinshaw and Todd Ellzey and other cherished friends from South Jones High School.

A memorial service for Ruben will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018, at Gardendale Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, 805 Crest Dr., Gardendale, AL. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, and will be followed by the Memorial service at 2:00 pm.

Ruben will be interned at Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, AL.
