Ruby Jewell Dennis, 91, of Louisville, peacefully ascended into the Kingdom of Heaven on June 7, 2018 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital surrounded by her family. Ruby was born in Glens Fork, Kentucky to the late Thomas and Virda McKinney Huddleston. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Dewey Dennis, as well as her parents and brothers, Joel, Edward, Everett, and Alfred Huddleston.

She is survived by her children, Charles Dennis (Kathy) and Mary Dennis Jones (Stephen). Ruby and Dewey were joined in marriage by the Justice of the Peace on June 12, 1948 in Louisville, Kentucky. Her life’s work was to be a loving wife and mother, and she was rooted in her Christian faith.

Ruby tirelessly nurtured her family and instilled her strong work ethic into her children. She was a member of Ormsby Heights Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the kind staff of Parr’s At Springhurst for caring for Ruby for the past three years, the skilled doctors and nurses of Norton Brownsboro Hospital ICU and 4 East, and the staff of Hosparus Health.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, 11:30 am at Southeast Christian Church Chapel Blankenbaker Lane, with burial to follow in Mt. Holly Cemetery, Fairdale. Visitation will be Monday 4-8 pm, Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood and Tuesday 10 am until time of service at the church.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Baptist Homes, Inc. for the Parr’s Endowment, 3101 N. Hurstbourne Pkwy.
