OBITUARY Rudolph “Rudy” Clarence Shrum March 9, 1930 – July 16, 2018 Rudolph “Rudy” Clarence Shrum, 88, of Birmingham, AL, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 16, 2018. Rudy was a faithful member of Second Presbyterian Church. Rudy was an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

He was a champion springboard and platform diver which led to his love of parachuting. He was retired from the Alabama National Guard, 20th Special Forces. He is preceded in death by Nancy A. Shrum, his loving wife of 63 years.

Rudy is survived by daughters Susan Shrum Laera (Mario) and Robin Shrum Woodfield ( Steve), grandchildren Jennifer W. McCullars (Will), Lisa W. Snowden (Kip), Elizabeth C. Laera, Gena W. Miller (Shain), and six great grandchildren who were his pride and joy all from Birmingham, Al. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 20, 2018 at Second Presbyterian Church, Homewood, AL at 12 noon with a memorial service following at 1:00 pm. The family wishes to give their heartfelt thanks to Angel of Mercy Elder Care especially Eric, Rosalind, Rosalyn and Sharon and Alacare Hospice for their loving care and comfort.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Second Presbyterian Church, 1300 Columbiana Road, Homewood, Alabama 25209.
