Obituary for Rudolph “Rudy” Robinson Rudolph “Rudy” Robinson, 92, of Ayden, passed away on December 21, 2018 at his home. Rudy was born in Lebanon, TN on August 27, 1926 to Newman and Ocia Robinson and was the youngest of 14 children from that union. He enlisted in the U.S Army and served in WW II in the Pacific of Saipan.

After serving in the military, he came to North Carolina in 1952 and worked as the plant photographer for the new E.I. DuPont Plant in Kinston from 1952 until 1968. He then opened his own photography business in 1968 in Ayden and later moved it to Greenville until the closing in 2005. While working as a full time photographer amongst all the wedding and school photo shoots, he began acquiring properties in and around the Ayden area.

He was quick to snatch up a foreclosure property or homes that no one seemed to want. His vision was to bring them back to life and provide housing for those in need. He was self- educated in the construction industry and often asked advice from friends regarding plumbing, electrical, roofing or anything else he needed to tackle in his properties.

Rudy is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marie Robinson, of the home; three children, Rudy Paul Robinson, James “Jimmy” Richard Robinson and Katherine Marie Robinson; seven grandchildren, Cassie Rae, Amanda, Samantha, David, Jamie, India and China; six great grandchildren, Hunter, Luke, Addison, Grady, Paisley and Olivia. He also leaves behind many other loving family members and friends and a very special fur baby, “Pumpkin”, his favorite calico cat. Rudy led a full life, full of wonderful memories at home and at the beach, but his eyes lit up when the grandchildren and great grandchildren came around.

No matter the kind of day he was having, he was always happy to see them. The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon, December 26, 2018 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm at Farmer Funeral Service. A Graveside Service to follow at 4:00pm in the Ayden Cemetery.
