OBITUARY Rufus “Ben” Benjamin Beaty Jr. May 6, 1939 – November 3, 2018 Rufus “Ben” Benjamin Beaty Jr., age 79, of San Diego, California passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018 from a courageous battle with Parkinson’s. “Ben” was born May 6, 1939 in Piedmont, Missouri to Rufus and Florence Beaty. He was married to the love of his life, Vickie Lee Beaty, for 37 years.
Ben joined the United States Marine Corps in 1958 and proudly served his country until 1960. He spent his entire life in the construction business where he took great pride in his work and met some of the important people in his life he was proud to call his friends. Ben had a passion for life and enjoyed fishing, cooking, and country music.
He loved all sports, especially watching the Padres, San Diego Chargers and the golf channel. He and Vickie spent many vacations playing golf on well over one hundred golf courses. If truth be told, he had ‘16’ holes in one!
Family was very important to Ben. He loved cooking family dinners, watching the grandkids little league and softball games, soccer, volleyball and basketball games; even robotics, and the newest sport, water polo. Ben is survived by his wife, Vickie Lee; daughters Ronda Hayes, Kimberly McCartney, and Janelle Chiu (Dylan); sons Todd Beaty, Craig Beaty (Donna), and Mark Beaty; sisters Joey Lewis, Janice Webb and Lois Johnson, and brother David (Captain) Beaty who is deceased.
Ben was a very proud grandpa to ten grandchildren. A Memorial Service for Ben will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, CA 92122. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.

Preceded in death by his parents Rufus and Florence Beaty, brother David “Cap” Beaty, and granddaughter Brittany.
