Russell W. Sheldon, 76, of Shelby, passed away June 18, 2018. Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 21, at 1:00 PM at Whitted Funeral Chapel in Shelby. A reception at the Search and Rescue Building will follow the service.

Russ was born January 15, 1942 in Herod, Illinois to Wayne and Ida Laverne Sheldon. He served in the US Marines. Russ drove trucks for a packing company and then worked as a carpenter.

He moved to Shelby in 1993. Russ met Marilyn Hunt in 1995 and they were married in 1999 in Coeur dā€™ Alene, ID. He enjoyed his horses, eagles and spending time with his grandchildren.

Russ was an active member of the Montana Search and Rescue for many years. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; children, Kris McConohy Scott of Arkansas, Amber Reynolds of Shelby, Aaron Sheldon of Tennessee; step children, Mary Clark and Teresa Sheldon; grandchildren, Raya Dawn, Aiden, Donivan, Alexia, Draco, Caity, and Caden; numerous brothers, sisters, and step brothers and sisters. He is preceded in death by parents; his son, David Sheldon, step son, Kenneth Nielson; and brother, Bobby.
