Russell Dale Smith, 77, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away March 10, 2019 at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born on October 31, 1941 in Ashland, Kansas, the son of Noble and Anna Belle Smith. He retired from Dillon’s Warehouse Bakery after 45 years.

A member of the First Church of God, he was an avid pool player and loved listening to traditional country and western music. Spending time with family and friends was a priority and he was always at the bar-b-queue grill during those gatherings. On December 23, 2003 he married Claudette Sims in Hutchinson, Kansas.

She survives. Other survivors include 5 sons, Richard, Thomas, Scott (Stacey) Smith, Henry and Louis Fuller; 1 daughter Paula (Melvin) Fuller; 1 sister, Sheryl (David) Mays; 1 grandson, Andrew. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Saundra, 1 brother, Marvin.

A gathering for family and friends will be held Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Old Mission – Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. A graveside celebration of life will take place Friday, March 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, Kansas. Old Mission – Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
