Obituary for Russell Shepherd Russell Shepherd, of Forney, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on December 2, 2018. Russell was born March 23, 1954 in Dallas to Danny and Arlene (Gresham) Shepherd, both of whom preceded him in death along with his sister, Debby Shepherd Kendall and father-in-law, Ed Schultz. Russell worked for Texas Parks and Wildlife as a Ranger and was a loyal, helpful and dedicated park ranger for over 18 years until his retirement.

He primarily worked in the Pittsburgh, Texas at Lake Bob Sandlin State Park where he loved to show visitors the different wildlife and ecosystems that could be found. He loved the outdoors especially fishing, taking road trips, gardening and woodworking. He was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Brenda, whom he married on June 7, 1975 and a loving father to his daughter, Kelly.

Russell loved spending time with family and friends and his cheerful smile and entertaining, generous personality always made get togethers into a great time. His unconditional love for his family will be the legacy they carry on into future generations. Russell is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Shepherd, of Forney; cherished daughter, Kelly Reed and husband, Howard, of Forney; precious grandchildren: Conner Reed and Moira Reed of Forney; loving brother, Curtis Shepherd and wife, Debbie; mother-in-law, Marie Schultz; brother-in-law, Richard Schultz and wife, Jeffrie, and sister-in-law, Marsha Lopez and husband, Gus, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.

A Celebration of Russell’s life will be held by the family at The First United Methodist church of Rockwall on Saturday, December 8th, at 2:00 pm in the multi-purpose room located at 1200 Yellow Jacket Lane, Rockwall, TX 75087.
