Capela, 74, of Simmons Road, Corry, died Sunday, May 5, at home after an extended illness. He was born in Corry, PA, on May 28, 1944, son of the late Paul and Anna Capela. Russ graduated from Corry High School in 1962 and served in the National Guard until 1966.

He worked as a draftsman for Rogers Structural Steel and then become a machinist for McInnes Steel, where he worked for 25 years. He also worked part-time for Corry Peat Products for 30 years. Later, Russ worked for the Corry Auto Auction.

He was an avid reader and loved to fish, but his favorite job was as Papa to his grandchildren. Russ was a member of the Beaverdam Mennonite Church. In addition to his parents, Russ was preceded in death by a sister, Caroline.

Russ is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dixie (Halfast) Capela, two sons, Todd (Robin) Capela of Houston, Texas, and Ryan Halfast of Corry, a daughter, Trudi (Frank) Miklos of Beaver County, PA, grandchildren Deanna (Trevor) Polaski, Alan Miklos, and Kayla Halfast, and great-grandson Lee Oliver Polaski. Russ is also survived by brothers Paul (Betty), Tom (Janet), Chuck (Joyce), Joe (Diane), Ken (Pat), and Norman (Cheryl) Capela, and sisters Cindy Crocker, Dolores (Jerry) Kerr, and Yvonne (Gary) Price, and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 North Center Street, Corry, PA 16407.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Beaverdam Mennonite Church, 17721 Rt. 89, Corry, PA 16407, with the Rev. Randy Carr officiating, followed by interment at Lawn Cemetery.
