Allen, 76, of Quakertown, PA; formerly of Sellersville, PA went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 21, 2018 at her residence. She was the loving wife of Melvin J. Allen for 45 years. Ruth was born in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania to the late Preston R. Kelchner and the late Susan (Patton) Hockman.

She worked in her family’s business, Kelchner Horseradish Factory in Dublin for 25 years. Ruth also cleaned offices at Faith Baptist Church in Sellersville and housecleaned for her family. She was a member of Faith Church of Sellersville where she served a former greeter, former Sunday school helper, was active with the former Sunbeams Children Ministries on Wednesday nights, and was part of the Ambassadors Sunday school class.

Ruth was an avid reader of Jan Oakley Books, Amish books, and The Daily Bread. She loved taking walks in the park, being outdoors, and having family picnics. Ruth enjoyed crocheting, family reunions; crossword & jigsaw puzzles, and collecting dolls & lighthouses.

She was a friendly, compassionate, kind lady who had a great deal of hospitality for others, was always willing to help others, and loved sending cards on all occasions. In addition to her husband, Ruth is survived by her son, Samuel J. Allen of Quakertown, PA; her brother, David Kelchner & wife, Sandy of Ottsville, PA; her two sisters, Pat Martin & husband, Harry of Phoenix AZ, Sarah Wiffleff & husband, Rick of Ottsville, PA; and her sister-in-law, Linda Fels & husband, Bill of Mt. Joy, PA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, James J. Allen, her infant daughter, Susan R. Allen, and her five brothers, Eugene Williams, Robert Kelchner, James Kelchner, Samuel Kelchner, & Paul Kelchner. A viewing will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 9:00 am – 10:30 am at Faith Church of Sellersville, 700 N. Main Street, Sellersville, Pennsylvania 18960, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 am. Burial will take place at Limerick Garden of Memories.
