Ruth E. (known as Aunt Ruth) Brooks (Webb) 93 of Cleveland went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 4, 2019. She was in the comfort of her own home in East Cleveland following a long illness. She was born in Oberlin, Ohio.
As a child she attended Elyria Schools and moved back to her birth place Oberlin where she proceeded to graduate and receive her high school diploma from Oberlin High. She went on fulfilling her dreams and goals and went to Oberlin College where she received her Bachelor’s degree and became a secretary at the college she attended. One night her Aunt Tressa trusted her to go to Elyria Roll Arena, where she met the man of her dreams Genius Brooks (known as Uncle Gene).
He asked her Aunt Tressa for her hand in marriage. Then he proceeded to sweep her off her feet to East Cleveland where they remain married for 40 plus years. Mrs. Brooks will be sadly missed by all of her nieces, nephews, and her sister in law Sharon Hampton Brooks, and her church family.
Ruth accepted Christ at an early age and was devoted to her church and church family until her passing. She was preceded in death by her husband Genius Brooks, parents, Clarence And Cecile Webb ( nee Smith); three brothers, Clarence Jr., Corkie, Phillip Webb; two sisters Barbara Cummings and Laura Jones. She will be greatly missed.
