In addition, she has 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Ruth grew up in Georgia and spent most of her young years in Macon and then on Tybee Island. Tybee was her favorite place in the world and she loved it dearly and revisited there as often as possible.

She, her brothers and their friends were the core group that started the original Tybee-ite Reunion. Their family home was two blocks from the Tybee Island Lighthouse and Fort Screven; which were the foundation for so many of her fond memories. She loved the beach and always wanted to return to Tybee Island.

Ruth’s early career was in banking and accounting which eventually lead her to key administrative positions at Bayview Nursing Home in Beaufort and Hilton Head Hospital on Hilton Head Island. She had a sharp mind for figures and was a stickler for details! Ruth loved music and could always be heard singing around the house while doing chores and raising her three children.

She was a single mother who gave he children everything they needed and more, while at the same time doing with the barest of essentials for herself. She would say “You children are my life” and she proved it all the time. Throughout her final days – she would always as – “How is everyone doing?

” and then would ask about everyone by name. In her later years she became somewhat of an expert in genealogy and tracked her family records back to England and particularly Wales. Ruth’s nickname was “Georgia Peach” obviously tying back to her roots.

She was loved by most everyone she met and was a true friend to many. But most of all she was the most wonderful mother and grandmother in the world! She will be missed-but not forgotten!

You will be loved forever and always Mom! Services will be held at a later date on Tybee Island, GA. Please donate to your favorite charity in her name.
