Ruth L. (Knoerdel) White, 92 of West Deer Township, died peacefully on Friday December 7, 2018 at Concordia at Rebecca Residence, West Deer. She was born August 31, 1926 in Carnegie to the late Karl and Laura (Scott) Knoerdel. She attended school in Carnegie before working at H.J. Heinz Company.

On October 6, 1945 she wed George “Don” White of Aspinwall who preceded her in death in 2005. In 1966 Ruth and George started O’Dorsey Kennels where they raised purebred Irish Setters and English Cocker Spaniels as well as operating a pet boarding kennel. Ruth was also know as a professional handler in dog shows.

She was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Dorseyville, Survivors include her sons Glenn (Paula White of Siegel, Bruce (Janet) White of West Deer and Wayne White with whom she lived; grandchildren Michael (Melinda) White, Brenda White and Diane (William) Fazio; two great-grandchildren Megan and Madison and her brother Frank (Marion Ludwig) Knoerdel of Pittsburgh. Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her brothers Charles and Noel. Friends received Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Twp.

The funeral services will be held Wednesday 11:30 am at Mount Royal Cemetery Chapel, 2700 Mount Royal Blvd. Glenshaw, PA 15116, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband George. View obituary online and leave condolences at www.
